Sue Tyldesley agreed to take on the challenge of the Hands-On session on ‘INCHIES’ which some of our members had seen at the Lytham Branch exhibition last summer. She had put together a collection of her own samples to inspire us – some of which are shown below.
INCHIES are exactly what they say they are – one inch squares of embroidery – which can include embellished felt, hand or machine stitch, recycled stitch samples etc., and added surface decoration of all kinds – great fun and very quick to do so very suitable for a quick afternoon session of stitching.
Sue also brought along the Branch ‘bit box’ which we keep for emergencies or events like this and we could all delve in to choose bits and pieces to add to ours, for our own INCHIES.
The items shown below are works in progress so watch this space for some finished pieces after next months meeting – in other words ladies – don’t leave your bits in a box but make them up into cards, small panels, bracelets, hangings etc., so that we can have a good display.
Samples include work from Eleanor Bowden, Sue Chisnall, Audrey Gore, Kay Kellaway, Monica Selway, and others.
AND Carole Sams our Secretary had made this hanging at home prior to the meeting – only part of which is shown.
A great afternoon – thanks to Sue.
