Liz Almond’s ‘Blackwork Journey’

Liz  has worked as an embroiderer, lecturer and tutor for many years and is  fascinated by counted thread techniques, blackwork and whitework.   Throughout her career she has taught classes in community education, given talks and day schools to groups throughout England, exhibited and worked to commission.

Her recent interests have been in developing alternative approaches to blackwork away from the historical concepts. Islamic architecture and geometric design are major influences on her designs as she has travelled extensively throughout the Middle East and Asia finding inspiration for her most recent work.

I wasn’t at this meeting but I am told it was a fascinating talk and I have  some photographs taken by John Clark which show the high standard Liz achieves.
