Saturday 20th July–Hands-On

I don’t often start a report with - A boiling hot afternoon – all windows and doors open – we needed fresh air to be able to concentrate on the job in hand – some serious stitching!!!

Using the Marbled and Brusho painted fabrics we had produced last October, we used simple stitching to manipulate the fabrics into folds, swirls and patterns.  Although we all loved the marbled fabric patterning, the Brusho-painted pieces worked best as the plain colours showed up the detail of the stitching and manipulation very well.
Shown below are a few examples of the stitched fabrics and pieces made by Carole Sams, Sue Chisnall-Sumner and Sue Tyldesley

We now look forward to seeing some of our members finished pieces – so please bring them to the next meeting and maybe your piece will appear on the Blog.

I must admit to finding it a bit too hot to stitch so didn’t achieve much on the day, and a member sitting next to me (you know who you are!!) was covered in blue Brusho by the end of the afternoon, as she hadn’t washed and ironed her piece before stitching – the blue fingers and moustache might set a new trend!!!
However she did a lot more stitching than me…………………….
