CHAIRMAN’S CHALLENGE

At our AGM last September the outgoing Chairman set a challenge for members entitled ‘Reuse, Renew, Recycle’.  There were two categories = one for experienced members and one for newcomers or beginners.

There were a total of 15 entries for the competition and as you will see from the photographs, the winning piece by Monica Selway was a lovely little woven basket which included drinks can pull rings and paperclips – very innovative.
Monica received a book token and an original old copy of the Therese de Dillmont Embroidery book which she will keep for a year and which was given to the Branch.  This will be the perpetual prize given to the winning member, each time this competition is organised in future.

The prize for best newcomer was awarded to Angela MClarnon for her felt bag made from an old jumper and shirt belonging to her husband (we hope he knew about it!)  Angela also received a book token as her prize and she can be seen (left) in the photo below ‘rummaging through the bag – as women do’ with the outgoing Chairman -  can’t remember what we were looking for!
