‘Working with Maps and Found Text’
was the title of Elizabeth’s talk and her display of Books, Boxes and Mixed Media pieces was inspirational.
Elizabeth uses a mix of old Ordnance Survey maps, old book pages and sheet music to create folded and manipulated pages for her books and a variety of small boxes to hold the books – all very imaginative.
Lots of brown paper, painted maps and old book pages are used for a huge variety of finished pieces.
As well as using the printed pages from old books, she prints her own text onto cotton organdie and Tissutex to create just a hint of it in the backgrounds of some of her mixed media work. A selection of which is shown below.
This looks like a fascinating talk. Hope you all enjoyed it. I think I have seen some of Elizabeth's work in an exhibition.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this talk and seeing all the books that Elizabeth had made. I have signed up to do Elizabeth's workshop in March and I can't wait.
