TALK BY ELIZABETH SHARROCK–9th February

Working with Maps and Found Text’
was the title of Elizabeth’s talk and her display of Books, Boxes and Mixed Media pieces was inspirational.

Elizabeth uses a mix of old Ordnance Survey maps, old book pages and sheet music to create folded and manipulated pages for her books and a variety of small boxes to hold the books – all very imaginative.
Lots of brown paper, painted maps and old book pages are used for a huge variety of finished pieces.

As well as using the printed pages from old books, she prints her own text onto cotton organdie and Tissutex to create just a hint of it in the backgrounds of some of her mixed media work.  A selection of which is shown below.

  1. This looks like a fascinating talk. Hope you all enjoyed it. I think I have seen some of Elizabeth's work in an exhibition.

  2. I really enjoyed this talk and seeing all the books that Elizabeth had made. I have signed up to do Elizabeth's workshop in March and I can't wait.
